The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is an international voluntary standard introduced by the Textile Exchange (TE) in 2013. The current effective version of the OCS standard is OCS 3.0, which was released on March 1, 2020, to trace and certify the organic fiber content in products.

OCS can be defined in two ways:

1, OCS 100: organic content needs to reach 95%-100%, not less than 95%

2, OCS Blended: The content of organic matter needs to reach 5%-95%, not less than 5%

OCS can be used as a commercial trade tool between companies to ensure that the company is purchasing products that contain the amount of organic raw materials as claimed, as well as as a statement to consumers.

Authentication scope of OCS

OCS certification is applicable to any non-food products containing 5 to 100% organic raw materials, such as textiles (fiber products, yarns, fabrics, clothing, etc.), cosmetics.

All supply chain locations and brands of organic ingredients: original processors, manufacturers, packaging and labeling, storage, traders, and brands can participate in the certification.

OCS only declares the "content of organic fiber" in the product, and does not involve the requirements of chemical, environmental, social responsibility and other modules. It can be used to trace the organic growth ingredients involved from the source farm to the final product, a process certified by ASCP Services.

Certification result of OCS

There are two types of OCS certificates, namely SC (Range Certificate) and TC (Transaction Certificate).

1, the certification body will issue SC after passing the audit, get the SC certificate, which means that you have the qualification to undertake OCS product orders. The certificate is valid for 1 year and is reviewed once a year, which is a re-certification audit.

2. TC is the transaction certificate for each batch of OCS orders. The issuance of TC is established after the SC certificate is obtained and the real transaction is generated, and the application can be made to the certification body.
