C-TPAT Application: All industries.
GSV Global Security Verification, short for Global Security Verification, is an international commercial service that supports the development and implementation of global supply chain security policies covering plant security, warehouse, packaging, loading, and shipment. The mission of the GSV system is to work with global suppliers and importers to facilitate the development of a global safety certification system to help all members enhance safety and risk control, improve supply chain efficiency, and reduce costs. Us Customs currently only recognizes ITS GSVS.
One of the requirements of C-TPAT is to assess safety and ensure that all partners in the supply chain, including manufacturers, warehouse managers, shippers, stevedors, middlemen, brokers, port personnel, and movers, meet the safety requirements of C-TPAT.
1. Assess the operational process safety of an organization, define appropriate countermeasures and establish improvement plans to continuously identify problems
2. Evaluate the customer's compliance with C-TPAT standards, and periodically audit the customer's trade process
3. Based on the risk assessment of the whole supply chain, evaluate the compliance of the safety system and the implementation of the regulations, and also include the evaluation of manufacturers, freight forwarders and other service providers with similar safety requirements and standards.

Membership is open to current US importers, carriers, customs brokers, cargoes/freight forwarders/non-ship public carriers, local US port authorities/terminal operators, Mexican manufacturers and a group of Asian and European manufacturers directly invited by CBP. Since May 30, 2002, through mid-2004, more than 6,500 U.S. and foreign companies have applied for C-TPAT membership (representing nearly 40% of the total value of U.S. imports), of which 4,000 have been approved by CBP and awarded C-TPAT certificates.
The main benefit of passing C-TPAT is to speed up the processing of freight. Over time, as the number of C-TPAT members increases, non-C-TPAT members will find that their shipments will have to go through more and more detailed inspections with no guaranteed processing time.
