WRAP factory audit

WRAP is short for Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production.

The WRAP standard was developed by Global Garment Production Social Responsibility to improve the human rights situation of garment manufacturers around the world. WRAP is the largest certification organization for social responsibility in the garment industry and has been recognized by more than 100 international brands. Foreign buyers can find factories through WRAP's official website (there are about 2,200 factories worldwide and 800 factories in China). Passing the WRAP certification and getting the WRAP certificate is a passport to export to overseas markets.

WRAP Inspection standards are developed by Global Garment Production Social Responsibility Organization to monitor and verify that manufacturing companies comply with global social responsibility standards and ensure that products are produced in legal, humane and ethical conditions. WRAP factory inspection standards are relatively high, the scope of audit is mainly human rights and anti-terrorism two aspects, its certificate has a strong universality.

The goal of the WRAP Inspection program is to verify legal, humane and ethical manufacturing practices around the world. The WRAP Inspection Program fully demonstrates that the sewing products industry is committed to adhering to the WRAP inspection principles. The program is a factory-centered certification program. Participating factories have voluntarily agreed to have an independent monitor assess whether the facilities are complying with the principles outlined above.

1. Initial audit

Half notice (4 weeks of assault time), last 90 days of record

2. Follow up the audit

Half notice (4 weeks of surprise time), from the end of the last audit to the date of the latest audit, it is necessary to ensure 45 days of compliance. If there is any problem with wages and working hours in the last audit, it needs at least 2 months of new records to apply for follow-up audit

3. Annual audit

Half notice (4 weeks of raid time), past 12 months or 6 months of record

4. No notice to spot check

No notice at all, from the last WRAP audit to the date of this sampling audit

WRAP Grade classification of factory inspection certificate

The evaluation results of WRAP certification are divided into

A. Platinum Certificate (valid for two years)

B. Gold Certificate (valid for one year)

C. Silver Certificate (valid for half a year)

If the factory does not get the certificate, it will be followed up for audit in 3 months.

① During the certification period, the plant may be subject to surprise or unannounced inspections.

(2) Where a plant is not in full compliance with WRAP's production principles, it has been identified as having more than one reasonable risk, namely, the plant is under a risk certification period, during which the plant will be subject to a surprise unannounced follow-up investigation until the non-compliance is in full compliance with WRAP's production principles.

(3) Plants that comply with WRAP's production principles will be granted their certificates for a standard period of one year, during which the plant will be subject to planned or surprise visits.

At the end of the validity period of the original certification, the factory can apply for recertification, recertification must pay the certification program application fee again, and re-register the certification program.

WRAP factory inspection application process

01. Simulation self-evaluation

According to the requirements of WRAP factory inspection, the relevant management personnel of the factory will establish a self-assessment team or hire a professional consulting institution to conduct simulation evaluation on the factory itself to find out loopholes or problems and improve the deficiencies. When the management team thinks that the factory basically meets the requirements of WRAP factory inspection, it can submit a certification application report to WRAP Council to apply for WRAP factory inspection.

02. Data collection

After the application is approved, the WRAP Factory Inspection Council authorizes the plant Management Team to appoint any supervisor in the list of supervisors registered by the WRAP Council. The supervisor will review the plant and decide whether the plant complies with WRAP factory inspection principles and whether to grant certification according to the review report, as well as some supervisory opinions.

03. Analysis

After the supervisor issues a letter of recommendation that meets the standards, the factory can formally submit the certification request to the WRAP Factory Inspection Committee. The certification committee will list the detailed validity period of the certification after accepting the report, and urge the factory to accept random inspection to review the certification results.
